Buffalo Failing for Singles? March 2007

Collin Bishop, WGRZ.com

The Today Show has ruffled our feathers before. Remember last month when Willard Scott called out Buffalo for a six-foot snowstorm that actually hit central New York?

Now, they've done it again. The editor of Men's Health appeared on the NBC show Monday morning to talk about a survey ranking every U.S. city for its dating potential. Cities like San Francisco and Raleigh made the top. Buffalo ranked dead last, and was given a failing grade.

During the live show, the Men's Health Editor said, "Buffalo, they're spending more time shoveling out than going out."

The Men's Health poll ranked cities in six categories, including fitness level, philanthropy, and education level.

Not listed was a city's tendency to overreact to meaningless rankings.

But we wanted to know if it could really be true.

The folks at the "It's Just Lunch" dating service disagree with the Today Show's assessment. They say people here are often busy with careers, and that might keep them from getting out, not the snow.

And for examples of singles success, look no further than Channel 2. Scott Levin, Ron Plants, and Adam Benigni are all out-of-towners who found love in the queen city.

So single people of Buffalo, don't believe everything you read, hear, or see. And to the folks of the Today Show, we still love ya, but you're trying our patience!
